Volleyball is one of the most popular sport in Russia. In fact, a lot of Russia people say it is their favorite sport. Russia people have played volleyball a not very long time. In Russia volleyball came in 1923 (nineteen twenty tree). In Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod were first plays.
In 1949( nineteen forty nine) the USSR men`s national team took part in the first Volleyball World Championship and won! After the fall of the USSR the Russian men`s team won at the World Championships in 2002 (two thousand two), and then won Brazil at the Olympic Games in 2012 (two thousand twelve).
There are 5 roles in volleyball: connecting, libero, central locking, diagonal and finishing player. Today, Russia still has very strong volleyball teams such as "Zenit-Kazan","Locomotive" from Novosibirsk,"Zenit" from Saint-Peterburg,"Dinamo" from Moscow and other.
